In 2001, Julia Child moved from her home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to California. The Smithsonian Institution convinced her to donate her entire Cambridge kitchen - furniture, pots and pans, cabinetry, and dish towels. The museum workers inventoried everything, boxed it up, and shipped it to Washington, DC, where it has been re-assembled within the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
Click here to go to the website developed by the Smithsonian about the kitchen exhibit, and to browse online through images of various tools (such as her copper pots). It's a very nice site!

I can't believe her whole kitchen is at the Smithsonian. She is much more of an American icon than I had ever dreamed. Just selecting Julie & Julia has brought forth a wealth of information on Julie Childs, blogs and my most favorite subject, food. Dee
